R.I.P. Tommy Lee & Frankie

We sadly lost two of our babies this week. Tommy Lee, our 19 yr old poodle, and was one of the fiesty "kids" we've ever had, and Frankie. Frankie was sent to Salt Lake City on Best Friends "Pup My Ride" program, but they sent him back, saying he was "unadoptable", so of course, we adopted him. We were blessed to have Tommy for 4 years, and Frankie for 3 years. You both were loved very much, and will be missed greatly.

Tilly's okay

This is Tilly, one of the "kids" we take care of. She had surgery to remove a mass in her tummy, and she came through with "flying colors".

Rascal and Smokin Joe

Rascal and I really bonded in the week I cared for him. Perfect Angel. Smokin Joe came over for the day and a bath. He had terrible dry skin. I used a Oatmeal and Baking Soda Shampoo on him. He came back this week and still no dandruff, his mom can't believe it. He looks so dapper. Joe was a working dog his whole life. Now he and his mom are retired.

MISS TILLY

Tilly is a gorgeous Great Dane. She has Wobblers Disease. It affects the spine and makes her wobbly. It doesn't slow her down any. She loves to chase me and those long legs just fly every which way. She has a Chihuahua sister named Sweetie, that is adorable.

GENTLE GIANT DOBIE

Meet REX. Look at the size of this beautiful baby. He Dwarfs my biggest dog. He was the sweetest guest! I have always loved Dobies but Rex is a true Gentlemen.. Loved having him!!

Molly & Louie

Meet the two cutest kids ever. Louie is the top pic. Look at that face!!! He is full if vim and vigor. Running and playing with the other dogs. He loves the grass. Sister (Shit Zu ) Molly was fun control. she would chase them barking all the way.

LOVELY WILLOW

Willow is our guest till Monday. She is sooo sweet. I noticed she was having trouble having a bowel movement. When I checked her out she had a fecal plug. The poop was stuck on her but so bad she couldn't get any poop out. I stuck her in the bath and softened the feces and with gloves got it all off of her. Poor baby, she has a sore spot on her bottom the size of a large golf ball. I've only seen this one other time. I'm putting her on pumpkin tonight. That should help.

There's the Donkeys

I have been so busy lately that it's hard to get to my blog. This week I've been caring for 2 Donkeys and learned something new. All Donkeys have two stripes, one across their shoulders and one down there backs making a cross. They say God gave them the cross for carring Mary. KOOL!

These girls decided that my bed made the perfect wrestling mat. They went at it for an hour. What pure joy it is for them and for me to watch.

I'm back.....finally

Hello all. I had surgery on my right wrist and haven't been allowed on the computer till it was mostly healed. They took a bone out of the base of my thumb and replaced it with a tendon from my forearm.

I have had an exciting and busy couple of months. Lots of new kids and even a pig named Ziffel. He was my first pig. He lives with his Mom Tamara who works at Best Friends Animal Society, her son, two Bully Wippets and 4 cats. He sleeps at the foot of Mom's bed, on piggy comforters. He's a great pig, pretty gentle too. I was wondering if he had teeth, his mouth was so soft, but I was assured he has teeth and can use them!! It was a wonderful experience. I hope to care for him again.
 I can't type for long so I'll write more tomorrow.

Schnauzers on Ice

Prancer thought it was water! She hit the ice and went sliding to the other side. They are so happy that the snow came back. We went out really early while it was still 22 degrees. We almost beat the thaw and mud. They LOVE this trail, it's their favorite.. It goes back to an old rock waterfall. They love the stream, so do I, I don't have to carry water for them! I never see them as happy as when we're on the trail.

My Wilma

We rescued Wilma 5 years ago. I was at a Petsmart, on a Mobile Adoption, when a man came in with her and said that if I didn't take her he would take her to a kill shelter in Vegas. I thought I would foster her till I found her a home. Turns out she had found her home. She is the most loyal little girl I have ever known. She is also the hardest working dog I've ever known. While all the other dogs are napping on the couch, she is working with me. She is my right hand man no matter what I'm doing. Sometimes I have to sit down so she can get a break.

Miss Ella

It has been an honor to care for this little one. She is possibly the BEST puppy on the planet! Her parents, Kathy and Marty have done a wonderful job with her. She is socalized and loving. Smart too! I am going to miss this sweet baby. She loved another daycare kid Buddy. She even gets the old blind kid to play.

WWE Smackdown

Look at this angel! Ella is visiting from New Hampshire. Her parents are volunteering at Best Friends Animal Society, so Ella is in daycare. She's 8 months old, a long haired Doxie. I am so in love with her. She and Lois Lane played for hours.

BUDDY CAN BOUNCE

For a big guy he can really move. He loves hiking, playing and massages! What a SWEET Labby. I'm in love! He goes home today, i'LL try to talk his Dad into including him in our hikes. OOPS, Dad just called and Buddy will be spending another night with us. WOOHOO!

MEET BUDDY

Buddy is a new client. He's going on Auntie Pat's Biggest Loser Program!! We're going hiking today. His Dad brought him for a meet and greet yesterday. His nails were over an inch long. Dad asked if I trimmed nails. OF COURSE I DO. Buddy is now walking much better with his pedicure.

WALKING ON WATER

I can't believe there's still ice on the stream but there is and the dogs love it. It's been so warm for the middle of winter that the Lizards are coming out, which explaines the next picture. Kiva in hunting position.

Isn't she gorgeous?? That's Sean (my Grandson) and Kiva. Not to be outdone There's Sofie and Lois.

DOG SKATING

The kids found a stream still with ice on the hike. They were running across and skating along. Prancer, Kiva and Ginger are the best skaters. Of course Kobe, Kaylee and Blitz had to try. I laughed so hard I could barely take pictures.

Kiva's back!!!!

Kiva is joining daycare 3 days a week. Ginger is soso happy. They love to play and run all over the yard. Kiva has the best play bow I've ever seen. She is perfect for daycare and she loves coming.

The tiny hiker

Another wonderful day. Sofie decided to throw on a sun dress and join us on the hike. She also convinced Twinkie to join her. Twinkie doesn't have any cloths of her own yet so Sofie lent her something. We met some  Best Friends Volunteers on the trail, Joann and Alan, from Canada, who asked if they could join us. They had never been on a hike with 9 dogs. Sofie is 3.2lbs. That doesn't slow her down. She walks as far as everybody else. It was Twink's first hike so she was in a sling on the way back. She has a heart murmur so we didn't want to push her.
P.S. I have ordered Twinkie 2 new sundresses, all her own!

HIGH ENERGY

I had minor surgery on my hand and wasn't allowed to pick up any babies so it had been 6 days since our last hike. They were wound up tighter then a drum. Prancer & Kobe barked all the way. The kids went wild! They were so excited and full of energy they couldn't stand still for pictures. Ginger and Kaylee would stop at every patch of snow for a nibble. It felt so good to be out again. I find myself smiling ear to ear and thinking how blessed I am. I love dogs so much. I'm living my dream.

Twinkie Stressing

Thinkie has decided that life can be stressful, so she's decided to try to relax.
